Bye bye 3 months, Hello 4th month!

Today Caden turned 4 months old.  Here are some pictures of his final days as a 3 month old.

Enjoying the beautiful weather outside on President’s Day.

Good morning!  Here’s what Caden looks like every morning when he wakes up.

Caden playing in his exersaucer.  So much to play with!

Hanging out in his bumbo, which he is going to outgrow very soon.  His tray came off and he was trying to pick it up!

So Caden started teething 2 weeks ago and he has become the drooly boy.  Here is Mommy’s attempt to take a picture of his two little teeth.

Finally got it!!

Tomorrow Caden is going in for his 4 month check-up.  I can’t wait to see how much he’s grown in the past two months.  I’m actually pretty excited to start him on solids.  I know he’s going to love it.   He already has teeth so why wait?  🙂

Until next time!  Drool Boy out!

My Two Valentines

This year I was lucky enough to have TWO valentines.  Of course daddy will always be my #1 valentine but Caden definitely has a huge chunk of  my heart.  It is so sweet for me to watch these two together.  They already have a very special bond.  Caden gets so excited whenever daddy gets home and he jabbers to him about what he did all day.  It’s so neat to see.  Everyone’s been saying how much Caden is starting to look like DP as he gets older.  I’m happy with that but beyond his looks, I hope he is like daddy in his personality and character, friendly, hard-working, faithful, and a lover of God and others.  I love my guys!

Teething

I can’t believe it but Caden is already teething!  This past Sunday he had a very difficult time after church.  He was crying more than we’ve ever seen him cry.  We thought it was because he was either overtired or maybe getting sick.  I questioned if he could be teething but I thought it was too early so I thought, probably not.   He continued to cry when we got home and finally crashed so we thought he was just tired.  The next day he had another cry-fest so I decided to check his gums and what do you know, I saw and felt 2 little teeth!   He is only 3 1/2 months old so I thought it was too early but apparently not.  Oh my!  No wonder he had been drooling so much!  Why is my baby growing up so fast??!!  I felt a tinge of sadness because it felt like he didn’t want to be a baby anymore.  I’ve always thought that babies look so much older when they start getting teeth.

Well due to the teething, Caden has been much more sensitive and fussy this week.  I didn’t realize what a toll it would take on my physically but I find myself feeling very tired and just wanting to rest.  It’s been hard because Caden has been wanting to be held more often.  At times I find myself feeling angry and frustrated at him, thinking “Why can’t you just play by yourself?”  or “Please just take a nap.”  These thoughts help me to see how selfish and weak I am.  It’s a very humbling experience taking care of him because all I do is give to him while all he does is receive from me.  It’s humbling because I know that this is the kind of relationship I have with my Father.  He is always giving and I am always receiving.  It’s so encouraging to know that though I burn out and have little to give to my son, that my Father has a endless resource of strength and care to give to me.  I am so thankful that I can find rest in Him.  Without this hope and knowledge of the grace I have received, I think I would be such an angry and impatient mother.  I pray that God will continue to remind me of the gospel and the unconditional love and grace that I have received so that I may impart a flawed yet grace-filled love to my son.

Teeth are so painful!

This cold washcloth helps relieve some of my pain. Can I have some privacy please?

Why is he growing up so fast???!!!

Visitors and Blanket Fun

We were blessed to have 2 special visitors recently.  The first visitor was my dear friend Julie Chin.  I can’t believe she is no longer Julie Hong!  We’ve both been so busy with weddings and babies that it was really good to get together and catch up.  Caden had a blast spending time with Auntie Julie.  She sure knows how to make a boy happy!

I love Auntie Julie!

She’s so funny!

We also got a special visit from my childhood friend Janey and her adorable daughter Madeline.  I have known Janey since we were 13 years old.   Though we don’t see each other regularly it was sweet to be able to meet and catch up.  Her daughter was so cute with Caden.  Here are some pics of Madeline posing with Caden.

On a different note, it’s been so neat to watch Caden growing and developing new skills.  He is a little over 3 months old.  He is now smiling, laughing, babbling, sucking all his fingers, grabbing toys, and definitely getting stronger.  Now when I put things near his hand, he will grab it and move it around.  For example, I put his blue elephant in his hand.  I turned away for a minute and look where the elephant ended up.

Hahah!  How did it get on his head?!!  He decided he was tired of playing with his elephant and opted for his fingers instead.

He is also now into grabbing his blanket and either playing with it or putting it in his mouth.

Seriously, none of these pictures were posed.  He went to town with his blanket.

I mean, he somehow flipped his blanket over to the other side.  Good job kiddo!  All these new developments are so fun to watch!
