Mom’s 4 Year Memorial

It’s hard to believe but it’s already been 4 years since my mom passed away.  She passed away on April 21, 2006.  I can still vividly remember that day like it was yesterday.  Can’t believe that since then, I’ve gotten married and now have a 6 month old son.  It hasn’t been until just recently that I’ve  been able to think more freely about my mom.  For the past 4 years I hadn’t let myself dwell on memories of her because it was just too hard.  Whenever I began thinking about her I would force myself to stop, otherwise I would be overcome with feelings of sadness and pity.  I have hope that my mom is with the Lord and I totally trust in the Lord’s sovereignty.  At the same time I still have to battle my human emotions.  The good news is that I am slowly able to think about her with less sadness and more joy and thankfulness.  She was such an amazing mom and I don’t want to forget all the wonderful memories I have of her.  One thing I wish is that my mom could have lived long enough to see Caden.  I know that she would have adored him and I’m sure he would have loved his halmunee (grandmother).  It’s been neat to be able to show Caden pictures of his grandma and just talk to him about her.

My brother, Caden, and I were able to go visit my mom for her 4 year anniversary.  I’m thankful because taking Caden with us has definitely lightened the mood.  In the past I never said anything whenever I went to visit her but this time I found myself talking to my mom about Caden.  It makes me look forward to visiting her more often to just talk to her and share about what is going on in my life.

Happy to visit Grandma.

I love you and miss you so much Mom.

Visiting the Hong Sisters

Okay, so their last names are not Hong anymore but they were once the Hong sisters.  Who am I talking about?  Julie Chin and Joan Shim of course.  I had the joy of visiting these dear sisters last week.  Both Julie and Joan have been godly examples to me for many years so it was so sweet to see God’s blessings in their lives.  First of all we were able to visit Julie along with Kellee, Susan, and Isabella.  Julie was such an amazing host to us!  She made us a delicious meal, complete with the yummiest strawberry shortcake.

It was so neat to see her at home, being an excellent homemaker and serving us joyfully.  We had fun catching up, cracking jokes, and eating yummy food of course.

The four of us have been friends for many years now and I’m so thankful for their presence in my life.

Isabella and Caden had fun too.  As you can see Isabella loves Minnie Mouse.

Caden had an especially good time with Auntie Kellee that day.  She made him laugh hysterically, tried to feed him a cookie, had him balancing oranges, and she insisted that he work out with the exercise ball.

Could it be because his legs look like this?

Or because he has rolls like this?  By the way, he dropped Sophie and caught her with his feet!  Haha!

Kellee and I were also able to visit Joan, Dale, and baby Isaac.  We know that he is truly a precious gift from the Lord and we were sooo excited to meet him.

Isaac is such a handsome little guy.  Seriously, this 2 week old has rock star hair.

The proud parents.

Proud aunties with Mama Shim.

Even though I had Caden less than 6 months ago, it felt so strange to hold a newborn baby.  I had forgotten how tiny they are!  It just reminded me again about the miracle of having a child.  It was so sweet to see the Shims as parents, enjoying the blessing of God’s gift to them.  Congratulations again guys!

Time with Family and Friends

It’s been awhile since my last post and I realized that Caden getting closer to becoming 6 months old.  I wanted to post some pics of him in his 5th month before it passes us by.  The past couple weeks have been pretty busy for us.  It’s been a good busy because we’ve been able to spend a lot of time with loving friends and family.  We have been truly blessed to be surrounded by precious believers who love, serve, and encourage us in so many ways. Here is a recap of some of the people we have had the joy of spending time with.

First let’s start off with some family pics one Saturday morning.  We decided to spend some time together as a family over breakfast at Noah’s bagels.

Love the same facial expressions.

Father and son advertising for Hurley.  Thanks for the shirt Auntie Angie!

Mommy and son.

One day I was able to baby-sit sweet Norah.  I know the lighting’s bad but aren’t they so cute together??

I don’t know what Norah did but Caden seemed to like it!

We had a wonderful visit from Auntie Susan and adorable Isabella.  Hopefully Isabella was able to get some practice being an older sister.

It was really cute to see their interaction.  Doesn’t it look like they’re having an actual conversation?

Jane, Sharon, and I were lucky enough to have Sue and the kids join us for a little picnic in the South Bay one day.

Caleb decided to play with Caden and boy was he loving it.  Caleb started banging Caden’s tray and here was his reaction.

Caden was seriously cracking up.

Caleb’s like, “What’s so funny dude?”

Caden and I were also able to visit Auntie Jenny and William one morning.  Jenny had graciously offered to help me make some baby food for Caden.  It was a sweet time of fellowship and an neat time for me to watch Jenny be an excellent homemaker and mom.

Here’s cute William trying to be polite and smile for the camera while still trying to watch his DVD.

Lastly, DP and I were able to go out on a date night thanks to Uncle Sam and Auntie Connie.  They came over to baby-sit Caden right after they had gotten back from the San Diego Zoo.  I know they were probably sooo tired but they joyfully served us by baby-sitting.

Stop it Uncle Sam!  You’re killing me!  Hahah.

They also brought back the most adorable stuffed elephant for Caden.

At first he wasn’t so sure if he liked it.

But soon he was loving it!

Ride ’em cowboy!

Thank-you Uncle Sam and Auntie Connie!

Remembering these times with family and friends reminds me of how much God has blessed us.  So thankful for God’s grace in our lives.  We love you dear friends!
